Missing panels in Xubuntu Feisty Fawn i386 LiveCD Herd 5

On my test system the LiveCD loads the desktop but no panels are displayed. The desktop icons are still available and functional so I can still install. The panels load correctly from the system installed on the hard drive.

Have you tried with Beta version ?

Still fails in the beta. I can see blank panels momentarily but then they disappear prior to the desktop icons being displayed. I am running at 800x600 but I don't think it's related to the desktop resolution. I would like to change it but X doesn't seem to communicate to any monitor attached to my 3dfx Voodoo 3 card via DPMS and I can't change xorg.conf manually because no consoles are available to allow me to restart X or GDM (bug 92928).

Still occurs occasionally in Feisty 20070415 image. It may be a timing problem. I'm using a PII 338MHz system.

Do you still have this issue with the stable release?

Yes. I just tried it again on an Athlon XP1600 system with a SiS741GX chipset. Always fails on start. Works if I open a terminal and launch xfce4-panel or restart X. This may be a duplicate of Bug #53987

Yes, it seems to be the same problem, it happens sometimes on my xubuntu box, I will mark this as duplicate.
