Bug Description

After a couple of weeks testing precise a "Not enough space" warning appeared, I tracked down what was causing the problem and found that ~/.local/share/zeitgeist/activity.sqlite-wal was abour 4.3Gb, and the entire zeitgeist folder is actually arround 5.6Gb (where ~/.local/share/zeitgeist/fts.index/ weighted arround 1.3 Gb).

By now the only thing I manage is to remove the 'activity.sqlite-wal' file, but I don't really know if it's safe to remove the other files.

Hi,

You can delete the "fts.index" directory without problem, it'll be regenerated the next time you start Zeitgeist.

A new Zeitgeist version, 0.8.99~beta1, will be available in Ubuntu 12.04 in a day or so. Can you please try whether the problem still persists with that update?

Thanks for the clarification, I'll start removing them now.

The thing is why did it grow so much? I have two precise installations and both of them have unusually large zeitgeist files, I have a cron job to remove them every other day (they usually weight ~1Gb)...

Not sure. Zeitgeist 0.9 will land in Precise soon and it includes a couple of related fixes. Can you please check whether you can still reproduce this behavior with it?

I've just disabled the cron job I had to remove the files, in a couple of days I'll be able to tell you if it's still reproducible.

I'm not able to replicate this behavior now, almost a week since the last data wipe, and the whole ~/.local/share/zeitgeist folder is just ~50Mb.
