Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
Sorry to keep hammering away at the installer but
Hurd 5 id 20070320 Feisty
Installer
Prepare disk space page
Problem
When you select
Guided - use the largest continuous free space
the last disk you selected under the other option
Guided - use entire disk is Highlighted (radio button selected)
Details
When you enter the
Prepare disk space Window
the Default Selections are
Guided - use entire disk
and first disk avail has radio button selected
So you select Next and go to step 6 and decide to
go back and change the way things will be partitioned.
Back on step 4 you select
Guided - use the lartest continuous free space
the First radio button (the default selection) under the
'Guided - use entire disk' option remains selected.
This might lead user to think that the largest chunk of free space
would be taken from that disk.
I suspect that all the radio buttons under the previous 'Guided'
option, should be unselected at this time as
the system will decide what disk has the largest chunk of free space.
However, an enhancement might be
Select
Guided -use largest continuous free space
and then allow the user to select which disk they want
to search for the largest chunk of free space might be a
good idea, since as it is now the Installer selects the disk
for you.
That idea just came rolling off my tongue. Being and old
developer myself I can just hear the chortles about such a
suggestion, however, I am aware it is not as simple as my
statement might lead one to believe.
Anyhow, there is not really any logs associated with the problem
so if I can help further let me know.
The reason I keep hammering on the Installer is that I
signed up w/Henrik to test the ISO Installer
jt
Seems plausible. It should be greyed out, at least in the GTK frontend, but deselecting those buttons altogether would be nice.
