Bug Description

Ubuntu 11.10

The sound card in Acer Aspire One D255 works fine, although the microphone does not work until you lower it's left or right volume to zero (which is odd, as the mic is a mono input device)

The sound card is listed as:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

To lower the volume, I had to install the PulseAudio Volume control and follow these instructions:

Launch it, then go to the Input Devices tab and hit the little lock icon, then drop one of the two channels to 0 ('Front Right') worked for me.

It's a known bug and tried to find it in the bug list but seems like it's missing.

I presume the fix should be fairly easy but this bug is another that scares people away from this great system. Annoyances like this I think must be fixed ASAP otherwise the system is considered as 'for geeks only'

Thanks,

Adam
