bar on top of menu bar is missing

the bar that has the icon for minimise and maximise is missing, and I used the emerald theme selecter to make suer i was using a theme that has one, but its not there...

Assuming that you have all your video drivers installed correctly and that you have an nvidia card, go into the terminal and place in

sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals

Then

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

And go down to the section called screen and edit DefaultDepth to 24 if it isn't set at 24 already.

Beryl is replaced by Compiz Fusion, so has been removed from Gutsy.
