Bug Description

Amarok uses Meta-1 to Meta-5 as global hotkeys to assign 1-5 stars to the currently playing track.

This conflicts with Unity, which uses these hotkeys to start/switch to the first five entries from the application launcher.

I have now assigned custom hotkeys for Amarok: Ctrl-Alt-Meta-1 to Ctrl-Alt-Meta-5.

Why should an application existing since 10 years change its hotkeys just because Unity wants them? Sorry, I fail to see how this is an Amarok bug.

I also don't see Unity changing its key combination its literally based around the 'Super' key.

It's quite unfortunate that the Unity designers didn't consider the way these keys have been used for a variety of applications for a long period of time. Unity ought to provide some mechanism to not break other things.

What every happened back then but changing the super key binding now is a total deal breaker for quite a large number of Ubuntu users who are now used to a major change in Ubuntu.

I'll close that as opinion as I am afraid that won't change in Unity :/
