Bug Description

Using unity-2d on Precise, with dual head system, after suspend/resume I find about 50% of the time that only the external monitor is enabled. The mouse will only move on that display and the launcher is shown on that display when before suspend it was on the laptop display. Furthermore I cannot re-enable the laptop display using System Settings > Displays (the laptop shows as Off, and if I enable it it shows On but does not in fact come on). I have to reboot in order to re-activate it.

Further analysis added 20 Mar 12 as described in comment #7
In System Settings > Power I have Do Nothing as the action on lid close (as there is a problem with this Toshiba Satellite laptop if the lid is used to suspend). I am suspending using the top panel menu action.
If I close the lid then I find that it turns off the laptop display and the PC switches to single monitor mode on the external monitor, which is ok. On opening the lid it reverts to dual monitor mode.
The bug described here is triggered if I initiate the suspend but then close the lid before the suspend is complete. On re-opening the lid the PC resumes but the laptop display does not switch back on.

Some more information. This happens about 1 in 2 times that I suspend/resume.
I tried disconnecting the external monitor before suspending and when I resumed the laptop screen came up ok. When I plugged the external monitor back in, however, the display switched to the external monitor, the laptop one went off, and I was back to square one again.

Is there any other data I can provide to help analyse this? I am sure others will eventually fall over it once more users pick up 12.04.

Reverting status as it has not gone away. It is happening only about 1 in 10 times now, I am hoping to find what is triggering it, if anything, but so far have not tied it down.

I will add this to the description.

@Christopher, no I can't I am afraid. The machine is now running 14.04 and the problem is no longer seen. Even if I could, is work still being done to fix non-critical Unity 2d bugs?
Possibly it is still affecting one of the other affected users.
