Bug Description

I have a Sticky Note on my desktop, and I put it in the lower right corner.
When I log out and back in, the Sticky Note has moved to the upper right corner.

The applet is not on the same place on the panel ? Do you have the problem
after every logout/login ?

The problem is not with the Sticky Note applet icon that
I have in my upper panel. The problem is with the sticky notes
themselves--the ones created when I click on the Sticky Note
icon.

The problem occurs when I reboot, but apparently not when I
just logout and back in. (In my normal use these days, I
usually only logout to turn the computer off.) I tried it
a couple more times. One time I had two notes on the desktop,
and when I rebooted, one of them had moved to the upper left
corner of the desktop, while the other stayed put. I tried
again with three notes on the desktop, and when I rebooted
and logged in again, all three had moved to the upper left
corner.

Correction: Rebooting is not necessary for the Sticky Notes to move.
Sometimes it happens when I log out and back in, without rebooting.

Do you have a crash dialog on the logout ?

There is a bug report upstream about this here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121782

Could you read it and let we know if your problem seems to be related to this one ?

The symptom of (some) notes moving to the upper left corner of the desktop
after logging out and back in sounds the same, so it could be the same bug.

I haven't seen any error messages. If they are occurring, it is too fast
for me to see.

The last time I logged out and back in, I had four notes on the desktop.
Two of them moved to the upper left corner when I logged back in.

I think this is fixed with gnome-applets 2.9.4, do you still get this issue ?

I'm running warty, which has version 2.8.1 of gnome-applets, so I can't say if
2.9.4 fixes the problem.

Someone else reported having the same problem in the forum:

Using Gutsy Gibbon with Compiz enabled, this bug still occur.
I'm not sure if it's the same source, but the behaviour is as previously described :
I have three sticky notes placed in a row, when I logout/login or reboot, they are always replaced on the left of the screen, one over each other.
Can this one be reopened ?
