start: Job failed to start
invoke-rc.d: initscript cups, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing cups (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

There has been quite a few updates to cups since though, so this is likely already fixed.

Seems that CUPS does not start after the update, most probably the same problem as bug 968956.

Please do a complete system update and if the problem goes awy, tell us here. If it does not go away do the following steps:

Please run the following commands in a terminal window:

  wget http://people.canonical.com/~pitti/tmp/cups.upstart.debug
  sudo cp /etc/init/cups.conf{,.orig}
  sudo cp cups.upstart.debug /etc/init/cups.conf
  sudo stop cups
  sudo start cups

This should fail again. Please attach /tmp/log here.

After that, please restore the original script again with

  sudo mv /etc/init/cups.conf{.orig,}
