Bug Description

I use GMail with Thunderbird. They've added a folder called "Important". It's seriously annoying, because nearly nothing in it is particularly important to me and messages are duplicated.

But enough ranting. When I read the last unread message in the "Important" folder, it is still marked as unread until I right click it and select "Mark folder as read". This means that Thunderbirds status on the launcher will still display unread messages even when there are none, and that the indicator will still be blue.

Small, but fairly disrupting and therefore annoying, bug.

You can workaround it by disabling the important folder from showing up in imap through the gmail web settings.

Jehn Berube answer in detail: go to gmail on a browser, click the gear button towards the top right corner > Settings > Labels > uncheck IMAP on the Important label.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Thunderbird since that time.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported using currently supported versions of Thunderbird and Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
