White layover randomly appears and wont leave.

Bug Description
After using Unity in Ubuntu for about 5 minutes, a white strip appears over the dash Icon. It stays on top of all the windows as well.
the only way to get rid of it is to log out and then back in again.
It is unity related because it does not happen in Gnome-shell or Unity-2D
Info: Ubuntu 12.04 Amd64/ Unity 5.4 / standard nvidia driver.
