This appears to be one of several serious regressions in 295.20-0ubuntu1. I can confirm that we see it as well.

Here is screenshots of the glitchy launcher. This happens (reliably) on a 24" Dell monitor, the system is a Dell T3500 with Quadro FX 580.

This happens when I switch from the X display to a VT and then back. The launcher and the top menu/notification bar both look glitchy. As soon as the mouse enters the launcher, Unity repaints it and the glitch goes away. Likewise, as soon as the mouse enters the menu area, it repaints and the glitch is gone. The glitchiness in the notification area persists until I click (presumably because it doesn't have any UI elements that repaint merely on mouse-over, unlike the other two).

Here is a screenshot of glitchy menu behavior. Here, menus show the background shadow effect, but the actual foreground text is missing or partial, and shows up when you mouse over it.

In both cases, I believe the bug is that Unity thinks that some texture or other has particular contents, but the contents have been scrambled by the driver in the processing of the VT switch. Presumably the relevant textures just need to get marked dirty.

I think this might be a security vulnerability, because sometimes when logging in with another user already - instead of showing zebra stripes it can show content from the previous framebuffer.

This means that content from the other user shows up on the new login.

the menu corruption is another bug, affects all drivers (a bug in unity?)

this one is a dupe of 931967, marking it as such.
