sftp hangs my laptop every time I try to use put command

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ssh

I have Ubuntu 6.10 desktop installed on my Dell Latitude D600.
I work over wireless card D-Link DWL-650.
Every time I try to use

$ put filename

command - it hangs laptop and the only way is to switch it off / on.

What openssh version were you using?
What size was the file?
Have you had the same result using Feisty?

If the whole machine hangs, then that must be a kernel bug - even if this is a bizarre way to reliably trigger it!

Derry asked for some information which Dmitry has yet to provide. In particular it would be worth testing with newer versions of Ubuntu.
