Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

it takes 30 -45 seconds after nautilus loads to grab a network connection, during which the gnome splash remains on the desktop; in contrast, a normal (non-roaming) dhcp connection is ready by the time nautilus loads.

problem resolved:

remove or fix the .gnomerc file in your home directory.

it contains:
export WINDOW_MANAGER=~/.gnome-compiz-manager/openbox

don't know where this comes from, I upgraded from edgy to feisy through update manager

I noticed that everytime I boot up my laptop at work it hangs after the gnome login. It usually gets stuck right before the icons appear on the gnome toolbars.

Even after the icons appear, everything takes ages to load, including a shell window.

At 1st I thought that it had something to do with the fact that I use dual monitors at work. Then I noticed that when I click on the network manager and on wired connection, it disconnects and reconnects me to the lan and immediately after that everything seems to respond normally.

even if this issue exists, its not a network-manager issue. Reassigning to gnome-session.

Changed in network-manager:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
status: New → Incomplete
