Bug Description

When setting the Unity Launcher to autohide, it no longer reveals itself using the mouse against the reveal location (left side in my case) like it did a few days ago. Even with the reveal sensitivity set to High it stays hidden. The only way to have access to the Launcher is to use the Super Key.

I can get the launcher to reveal sometimes but it is difficult to do.Something may have changed in a recent update because this was working flawlessly a couple of days ago.

As a temporary workaround on my pc I have changed the laucher reveal pressure from 20 to 3 in the unity plugin options in ccsm .

What seems to have broken is the push action, so as mentioned lowering pressure & just hitting the edge is the best way currently

I have reinstalled with the daily build from the 18th and updated and the launcher is back to normal.

With "nvidia 295.20", I have the same issue, and it takes many times pushing against the left wall before the launcher appears.

With "nvidia 295.10" installed, I have no problem with the launcher appearing with slights push.

Can confirm that with nvidia-current_290.10-0ubuntu2 the 'push' works, with 295.20-0ubuntu1 it doesn't

A little more on this being nvidia-specifc:

My machine with Nvidia card and Nvidia's drivers has this bug. It doesn't happen under Unity 2-D. And not under the nouveau driver -- but that forces Unity 2-D, anyway.

A machine with a Radeon card and Xorg radeon driver, doesn't show the bug.

All this is under Unity 5.4. I also tested downgrading to Unity 5.2.0-0ubuntu5, under the nvidia 295.20 drivers. That appeared to show the bug, too. I didn't get to test that at length, but it may be that the bug didn't arrive just with Unity 5.4.

I am also confident that this is a nvidia proprietary specific issue. I also have graphical corruption when logging in and switching users but they don't cause any major issues because they fade away after aoiut 5-6 seconds.

I'm using a dual monitor setup and can confirm that launcher absolutely will not display (via cursor) on the left monitor, however, it displays as expected on the right monitor.

Things are working for me, again, after this update to the X.org server packages:

xorg-server (2:1.11.4-0ubuntu4) precise; urgency=low

    - Make the velocity calculation more robust on screen edges. Fixes reveal
behaviour on nVidia 295.20 driver, which now clamps the pointer to the
      visible screen area. (LP: #937792)

It looks like that version of the bug got reported and fixed, before we had a chance to see that it was a dupe. :-) I won't try marking them dupes, now, in case they're not completely so.

Lets' see if the update above helps everyone else. Hope so.

I just found this bug on Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1.
It's not related to Nvidia video cards: my video controller is an Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics one (as from lspci)...

II experience this bug in Precise amd64 fully updated, but only when using nvidia-current, whether the 295.40 or the latest 304.51.
