in Feisty hddtemp not showing temp's say "S.M.A.R.T. not available"

in kernels < 2.6.20 hddtemp works propertly

After upgrading to Feisty, I get:

$ uname -a
Linux saturnus 2.6.20-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
$ hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: ST3300831AS �: drive is sleeping

The drive isn't sleeping.
With Edgy hddtemp worked fine.
