Bug Description
Update manager will not update the system, it errors out saying that ubuntu-desktop was marked to be removed and is on the removal blacklist. Doing a dist-upgrade at the console shows that, indeed, it wants to remove ubuntu-desktop and unity2d. A regular upgrade shows a LOT of packages held back.

I've experienced intermittent problems with ubuntu-desktop as well, but it's been resolved now. Can you reproduce this problem?
