Hi,
here is the bug report as discussed:
SET WSREP_ON=ON; SELECT SLEEP(10);
---> nothing in slow query log
SET WSREP_ON=OFF; SELECT SLEEP(10);
---> query in slow query log

server_status flags were not updated correctly, fixed in wsrep-5.5:

wsrep-5.1 is immune to this issue
