Bug Description

[Impact]
Several releases ago, Ubuntu switched from gconf to gvfs for mime-type handling. The xchat package was never updated to reflect this change, introducing a long-standing bug wgere clicking a URL in a browser does not work anymore. This patch is indicated for any or all releases since that change.

[Test Case]
Go to an irc:// URL in your browser: irc://irc.freenode.net/ubuntu-motu

[Regression Potential]
None detectable

yes, if you use irc:// it defaults to port 6667; while if you use ircs:// it defaults to port 9999

unless it already has settings for that server, in which case it uses its preconfigured network list settings,
in this case irc:// and ircs:// behave the same.

(through observing behavior of my version 2.8.8)

I just realized that "xchat -e --url %U || xchat" should be "xchat -e --url %U || exec xchat" so please update your patch.
