New Diary created with an unknown password

new Diary has status "Encrypted" by default. To change password I need to enter old password, which is unknown and not specified.

Thanks for the report. I have looked at it. As far as I can see the problem is not with the diary file created. The problem is for first time users Lifeograph cannot open an existing diay. Quit Lifeograph and reopen it and It should be able to open the created diary without asking for a password. Could you, please, confirm?

I have pushed revision 1167 now, which should fix this issue.

In Build 1167 - problem remains.

Test:
1. Create new diary file
2. View properties- "encrypted"
3. Close Lifeograph
4. Open again and select new diary
Result: "Please enter password for selected diary.."

More details:
Lifeograph 0.8.0 build with checkinstall. Opensuse 11.4 Gnome.

are you sure you successfully installed r1167 from bazaar? I cannot replicate the problem you experience. The file you attached is an encrypted file without a password, so it can be opened by any password. Very strange...

Normally, when you create a new file, Lifeograph shouldn't ask you for a password. The password entry widget should be invisible and there should be no place you can enter a password. In 0.8.0 release (r1163) there was a bug that causes the password entry widget to be visible at the first run.

1167 fixed login with random password with unencrypted file. I can add a RPM package, but do not think that will benefit from this

No password request! Perhaps this is a particular problem. Let's wait for more reports.

You can wait for the release of v0.8.1 for the RPM package. It is planned for early March.

For me, v0.8.1 will create the diary without password, but if you want to change password you have to enter space and click on the green checkmark. However, if I don't set a password immediately, I can't enter that diary again. The application insists on a password being entered. Please check this again.

I cannot replicate this bug no matter what I try on 0.8.1.
Vesal, plase make sure that you have installed 0.8.1 successfully. If the problem persists, please enclose your system details and please explain step by step how you create a new diary and experience this.

I'm using a Kubuntu 11.10 installation with your PPA. Apt uses the following location:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/dmxe/ppa/ubuntu/ oneiric/main lifeograph amd64 0.8.1-1~ppa3~oneiric [390 kB]

The steps to replicate are exactly the same as in post #3 above.

I think I have finally got to the root of the problem. As far as I can see, the problem only occurs if the previous diary is an encrypted one. That's why I have failed to replicate it till now. Fixed in revision 1194.
