video card refresh rate set to 60Hz at install

Bug Description

On a fresh install my video card was set at 60Hz (1280x1024 was the only
resolution I checked at XFree configuration step).
It is a sane default, but it's not possible to change it with the gui using the
gnome utility : it only proposes 60hz because
Vertical and Horizontal ranges in XF86Config are too low. It might be confusing
for a novice which probably doesn't know about XF86Config,
and 60Hz really hurts eyes !

As discussed several other times in different bugs, there is no way to set
better defaults when your hardware doesn't return such information.
