kate + gnome renders diagonal lines

I'm running Kate under gnome (because of POV-Ray hightlighting) in Feisty Fawn on a 64bit system.
Whenever Kate is on top it renders strange diagonal black lines over my whole screen.
There is no further breakage or crashes and Kate works just fine.

Thanks for your report. Are these lines present in final release? Are there other programs with similar problem or only Kate?

The lines appear also in the final release.
I run other KDE programs like amarok, they don't give me the lines. I noticed another thing: this only happens for me if i enable the POV-Ray highlighting mode, when i open the same files without highlight or with other highlighting than POV-Ray all works just fine.

My system also hangs for a few seconds now and then when scrolling in Kate with the same hightlighting enabled, i don't know if this is connected with eachother. But this also doesn't occur when using a other hightlighting method.

I hope this narrows it down a bit :]

It needs to be tested with Gnome. In KDE the problem is not present.

to make things worse a little;

the same problem occurred when i tried to run the kde program mixxx
the programs runs fine and doesn't crash, but sometimes hangs for a few seconds and it renders the same diagonal black lines across the screen.

i hope the narrows things down again :]
