Evolution Pilot sync unusable

Bug #9312 reported by Hartmut Seichter

gnome-pilot-conduits (Ubuntu)
Fix Released

Bug Description

Most of the gnome-conduits (or Evolution) fail to produce usable results with
Evolution 2.0.2 (2.0.1, 2.0.0). Additionally no Errormessages are provided to
give hints about problems. A sample installation with Kontact and KPilot from
warty/universe worked as expected for all KPilot conduits, thus link problems
are most unlikely.

Conduit working:
Backup
Time

Conduit creating duplicates:
EAddress

Conduits fail to sync (nor copy from Palm)
EToDo
ECalendar
MemoFile

The "duplicates" part of this is already reported as #2572.

When it "fails to produce usable results", what does that mean specifically?

I am aware of 2572. It reports on duplicates with ECalendar, I have this problem
with EAddress. Unfortunatly it happens occasionally. I just synced several
times, not changing anything in between. Sometimes it produces duplicates,
sometimes not.

(sorry, I am not native speaker, what I meant was "it is unusable"). The conduit
and also Hotsync show that everything went fine. Also the Hotsync Report on my
Sony Clie does not hint on any problems. The syncronization for EAddress worked
initially. After that syncing screws up the Addressbook. Except Backup, nothing
works properly.

A similar problem occurred for me. I'm using a Palm Zire (m150) and it synced
correctly a couple of times. But when I added when task it duplicated all of
the tasks that were currently entered into Evolution and also added 655 Untitled
tasks. It did not appear to be stopping so I cancelled the sync on my palm in
order to get it to stop. I will attempt to reproduce if a package with
debugging symbols can be found.

We don't really have useful details here, I've opened an upstream bug
about this, perhaps they will let us know what informations could be useful
and how to get them:

Do you still have this issue with the current version?

With Breezy Badger the problems disappeared. All sync conduits work fine. I
think it is save to close this bug.
