Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

Video playback does not work with kaffeine. I tried the xine backend and the mplayer backend.
With the xine backend, i get wierd colors instead of a video, and with mplayer backend i get nothing at all. In bot cases i get sound.

The videos works with mplayer (the mplayer application).

Thank you for reporting this bug. What format is the video are you trying to play? Does it work with xine in another player such as totem or xine-ui?

I confirm this problem, it affects DVB as well as DivX videos. However, I think it is not a problem of kaffeine as it affects mplayer too. Video playback with "auto" video driver with xine-ui and "gl" driver in mplayer gives a kind of interlaced image where each scan line is "moved" with respect to the previous one. CPU usage goes to 100% during playback.

I think the cause is the fglrx driver as the playback works fine with radeon driver. Video playback was working fine with fglrx in edgy.

When running kaffeine from command line, the following two lines appear (among others):
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
video_out_opengl: compiled for BGRA output, but missing extension.

Vladimir, I think you are having a different problem from the reporter. Sounds like you need to get DRI working with fglrx.

perhaps not. I used the fglrx driver, but now changed to radeon and it works. but i didnt test again with fglrx. i just know it works now with radeon

Yes, I realized that a while after sending the comment, but I am quite sure it behaved the same with fglrx and DRI on (with Option "Composite" "0" uncommented). Just to explain, I then switched to radeon driver, commented out Option "Composite" "0" and when I returned to test fglrx I forgot to uncomment it again (and posted the comment).

I retire my confirmation, I verified it again with fglrx driver with DRI on and video playback works correctly both in kaffeine and mplayer.
