I went through four more installations after writing this bug at the request of a pop up. I had no further problems. The reason for four installations was I was trying to figure out how to do away with the three partitions that the installation gave me. Kubuntu was installed on a 23,756 MB partition, while I had two useless partitions of 25,406 MB, & 49,700 MB. I have no idea how, or why, that happened. But, it was very difficult to correct it. Actually, I gave up when I got the Root on 46.3 GB & Home on 45.8 GB. This is on a 160 GB hard drive that I left Windows XP on the front 56 GB.
