Synaptic package manager not opening up through desktop in Oneric Ocelot

Bug Description

When I go to the menu or add the Synaptics icon to the sidebar, it refuses to open up in Oneric Ocelot (Ubuntu 11.10), the only way I can open it up is through the terminal.
