Bug Description

Trying to install wine on precise, however the package manager wants me to remove libvisual-0.4-plugins before.

Did not want to break something else in the process, so reporting in case it's a bug.

I can't reproduce it in my (64-bit) precise VM. Can you give the output of this command?:
apt-get install wine1.3

Hi Dave,

Thanks for looking into this. Got quite a bit of output so stuck it in a file, attached.

Cheers

The problem is that the amd64 and i386 versions of libvisual are not coinstallable, probably because libvisual has not been multiarch transitioned yet.

affects: wine1.3 (Ubuntu) → libvisual (Ubuntu)

Hmm actually it's more complicated than that. libvisual is a proper multiarch package, but libvisual-plugins is not. So the package manager here removes your amd64 libvisual-plugins and installs the i386 libvisual-plugins to match your i386 libvisual. I'll have to investigate libvisual itself to see whether the plugins are architecture-specific (in which case they should be multi-arched and made coinstallable like libvisual itself), or whether they're architecture-independent (in which case libvisual-plugins should be arch:all)

This is no longer an issue for me. Going to mark as fixed.
