Bug Description

Hello, I have copied wubi.exe from an Ubuntu 11.10 CD, I have run it on Windows Vista 32 bits, and it has downloaded and installed a snapshot of Ubuntu 12.04 development release instead of the expected 11.10 stable release.
The Wubi menu tittle says Ubuntu 11.10.

Please can you attach your wubi log file. To get it you can open the "%temp%" folder (enter %temp% in your windows explorer address bar) and find the file: wubi-11.10-revxxx.log

Here you have.
The first time I run wubi.exe, the wireless connection wasn't still ready, so it gave an error when it tried to connect to the Internet.
Later I were waiting wireless to become ready and tried again with wubi install, but without closing the application.

If revision 245 of wubi corresponds to rev 245 of the bzr branch the problem is that the isolist.ini doesn't point to oneiric images of the tar.gz file.

I'm pretty sure this depends on exactly which CD image is being used. We fixed this at the last minute before the 11.10 release, but didn't have time to respin everything - it was literally on the morning of release!

I can't think of a way to fix this without a time machine at this point.

Hm, it shouldn't be trying to download anything if it's running from the CD, though.

Oh, I misread - it's been copied from the CD.

Yes, wubi.exe was copied from the CD, but when it was run, the CD wasn't available, so it downloaded the image from Internet.
When the CD or the usb is available, then wubi does not allow me to do an installation inside Windows partition, and that is just what I wanted to do.

Which 11.10 disc did you copy wubi.exe from?

I had a copy of the Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit CD lying around (which I imagine I got at a UDS) and confirm that rev 241 is on that CD.

However, there really isn't much we can do to fix the version of wubi on CD images that are already out there. I'll look into getting this issue release noted.

The Kubuntu one is rev 241 also.

I've added this to the release notes but there isn't anything we can do to fix wubi on the CDs that have already been made so I'm setting this to Won't Fix.

At least, I hope this to be fixed in the next Ubuntu release (12.04).

Rafael it is fixed in revison 245 of Wubi which exists on CDs that you would download from the official Ubuntu mirrors, or that you could download if you went to www.ubuntu.com and download the latest version of wubi. It is also fixed on the daily builds of 12.04 that we are doing.
