nvidia-settings freeze on activating TwinView

Bug Description

This bug still affects me.

When I try to activate my secondary display the nvidia-settings software will freeze when i choose the option "TwinView".
After killing the program I cant start it in this session again, so I have to logout und relogin then.

My system:
Notebook: Dell Latitude E6420
Videocard: NVIDIA Quadro NVS 4200M
Architecture: amd64

The issues I'm experiencing are exactly the same as in bug #873375
The proposed fixes are not working. Neither in 11.10 nor in 12.04 (inculuding all current updates)

missing logfiles.

Twinview was given up in favour of RandR. This means ful systemcompatibilty. Nvidia-settings should be used any furthers only in rare cases.

System provided GUI-tools should be able to help on Dual-screen configuration in ful.
