Bug Description

ASUS Laptop, Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

Power Management Preferences -> When laptop lid is closed --> The "do nothing" option does not work. My laptop is connected to an external HDMI monitor with the laptop display disabled. When I close the lid I want the system to do nothing (keep laptop display disabled and keep HDMI on). When I close the laptop lid it puts the system into "Suspend Mode". I don't have "Suspend Mode" selected. I have "Do Nothing" selected. Please fix this.

In addition the "Blank screen" option is missing. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/920327/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I'd like to add that from my experience, gnome-power-manager acts as follows for "lid close"

Suspend = Suspend
HIbernate = Hibernate
Do Nothing = Blank screen

In a dual montior setup "do nothing" blanks **BOTH** screens

Even worse opening the lid the monitors remained black, no matter what I tried I could not get them back.
I had to reboot using "magic sysreq REISUB".

This behaviour is present in Oneiric and Precise on my ACER Laptop with Intel Graphics Card
