synaptic closes immediately after loading

Bug Description

Using ubuntu 11.10 32 bit.

Synaptic was loaded from Ubuntu software center. It loads, I see a blink of the window and then it immediately closes. Can't get version as it never opens.

Please run synaptic from the terminal and attach any error message text. If the program is segfaulting, try and obtain a backtrace: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace

Per instructions, started synaptic in terminal, got the following result;

terry@terry-HP-Pavilion-dv6700-Notebook-PC:~$ synaptic
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
