long topic takes up too much space

In chat room window if topic is too long, it takes up all the space it can find and there's no option to remove it. If I expand the chat window, chat log is visible but shrunk and is very narrow - nothing is visible.

Oops, I switched to Mint. If you use Empathy, you can try it yourself: the conference is <email address hidden> (xmpp).

Pidgin doesn't have this issue because it writes the topic to the main chat instead of some static control.
