Bug Description

I tried to add my IMAP Server to thunderbird 10

1. if is start it it asks me to create a Hotmail or AOL account?
2. after clicking thru some menus i try to add my IMAP Server which IS! accessible from my network here (tried to telnet it and it works).

After I enter my information in some kind if wizard it first tries to find my settings from Mozilla (which i don´t want it to do, because i don´t want to know Mozilla my server address, but i am not even asked!)

Well it doesn´t find any information (I don´t expect that as no one knows my mail server), because it can´t find that information it keeps telling me, it can´t add that mail server so even if I manually enter the server adress and the port / encryption method, it just asks the Mozilla db and doesn´t even try to connect to my server..

I hope Canonical chooses to not include such features in there coming releases of ubuntu or someone forks that mozilla crap and removes all that bloatware features...

I consider that as a bug, because adding mail servers not in the Mozilla ISP Database is impossible or just doesn´t work.

There is no way of adding a server manual without the wizard which many people don´t want, because they know what they are doing!

Hello Timo,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 917069

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
