GNOME Shell mostly crashes due to a lot of prolonged transition-duration in themes

Bug Description

GNOME Shell 3.2
PinguyOS 11.10 (equal to Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric)
ATI HD 4250 (open source driver)

How to reproduce: Just use the default theme that comes with GNOME Shell
+ Open dash and type something very fast

How I solved this: delete all transition-duration in gnome-shell.css in the according theme that I use. Now GNOME Shell does not crash due to typing fast in dash anymore.

Sorry, but PinguyOS is not the same as Ubuntu 11.10. If it were, there would be no need for PinguyOS. If you're getting crashes, perhaps try without the extra extensions PinguyOS uses.

The crash you're getting might be a graphics driver problem. fglrx in particular doesn't work 100% yet.

Changed in gnome-shell (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

I'm closing this because I can't duplicate with my Intel drivers and it's not clear whether your crash affects Ubuntu. I don't see a good reason to disable transition effects.

I was aware of what I was saying and would be responsible for it. There are also quite a few crash/freeze reports over Fedora and Ubuntu forum. Even if this only happened with ATI, it is still considered a bug and moreover, I gave a fix. I also edited the #1. I forgot to mention I was using open source driver of ATI.
