i tried to go online using my sierra mc8775 wwan-modem. after establishing the connection it was closed within seconds. when trying it again the modem seemed to bo busy, so i deactivated it with rfkill. then modem-manager crashed

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Have you checked if this is still an issue in Ubuntu 12.04? A test with a live CD is probably sufficient to test this.

Ah, I see that this problem was experienced using a beta version of Precise. Please test again with the final version with all updates applied.

Also it would be useful if you could test it again using the latest daily iso image of Ubuntu Quantal (12.10).
