Bug Description
Rebooting after upgrading from oneiric to precise resulted in the failsafe-x window popping up. There was no X cursor and the keyword also appeared not to work correctly (I was unable to select any option on the menu - the only working key appeared to be escape :-)
I had expected the installer to upgrade and rebuild the proprietary nvidia drivers I had installed via jockey in oneiric. The fix was to invoke "sudo dkms build -m nvidia-current -v <version>" manually and reboot to get back to using the nvidia drivers at the correct resolution.
A possible cause for this problem may be if upgrade-manager attempts to rebuild the drivers *before* upgrading the kernel and installing the correct linux-headers-
