Bug Description

New Install. Am getting Magento 1.6.1 connection via Connector in OpenERP.

All Product Attributes, Sets and Categories come into OpenERP.

When Importing Products however several problems.

Simple and Configurable Products are set to "Consumable" even though Product Categories to exist foir Simple and Configurable.

Products do not get attached to their Categories within OpenERP.

It is unclear whether updates in OpenERP are written back to Magento as yet.

Just trying a new Product Import with Default Category in Magento Instances set to Root Catalog/Default Category rather than All Products that was called out in the past.

Root Catalog is created by Magento and cannot be "called out" when the Instance is established.

After new Import: Products take a long time to load at first load.
No Products came in (they only want to come into All Products)

Trying new Round of initial Imports... No Products came in except a miscelaneous list of Categories.
Been working at this for a while now.

Still no Products to the Magento Categories. It looks like it take about 1 Hour to find this out from Snapshot.

How to get Products Lining up with Categories and Product Types when they don't come in properly?

Hello,

What is your OpenERP version ?
Do you know that the configurable products are being implemented in the trunk version only ?

For the "Consumable", I think you are confused with some notions :
 - Product Type in the procurement section: Consumable / Stockable Product / Service. This has nothing to do with Magento, this defines how OpenERP manages the stock of the product. It is always "Consumable" when you import your products because it's the default value when you create a new product. You can change the default value of this field to "Stockable Product".

 - Product Type in the Magento section: Here it is the Magento "Simple product" / "Configurable product"... but as said before, the configurable products are being implemented in the trunk version.

 - For the category not well imported, maybe there is a bug in the category mapping. I didn't tested it recently in version 5 / 6, I know that it works in trunk.

And yes, the synchronizations take a lot of time, due to the slowness of the magento's api.

Guewen,
Thank you for your note. I installed everything off the apps.vmware.com pages normally as Zip files. I have tried a few times to download "trunk" versions of the module and/or dependencies but never got one to take, so I have installed the version 6.0 series ones.

How would I get the trunk version in? I have been working on this for a Month now trying/wanting to get this to work but coming at this from the outside has been quite difficult.

Great to know that the "consumable" subject is independent of Magento's treatment. I take this to mean that once I convert it to Stockable, the OpenERP inventory will start impacting Magentos.

So the Categories are stil an issue. And, how to deal with Trunk and BZR in general.

Take me as a Model User and I will bring lots of feedback. I think it can be helpful for the project.

thank you,
Landis

One fundamental difficulty: OpenERP allows you to load modules as Zip files but Launch Pad offers to bundle Tar.Gz Packages. The only workaround I could find was to download the "latest updates" as Zips off the Apps.Openerp pages. It seemed apparent that the "latest versions" were far from it really, but it was the only thing I could get to work.

I can understand the idea of installing BZR onto my server but I have found no fundamental information about how to "tie in to the system" in a safe and productive way. I have explored for information on this but have not found anything resembling a simple 1, 2, 3 process. (I have full SSH acceess)

Earlier (and I tried again) I tried to install the Trunk of magentoerpconnect that was on apps.openerp
It is the Trunk Version 12/30/11 that came in as a Zip.

This is the error in OpenERP when I try to Import it into Modules:

Warning
Can not create the module file: /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/openerp-server/addons/magentoerpconnect/wizard.zip !

Is there another way to try?
