Maybe a reasonable approach for us to limit the danger is to have a dedicated base container for the tests. If people also want to develop with lxc, they should use another container.

Consider that the base container's postgresql could/would write to the
launchpad test database files (e.g. make schema) while the higher
layers postgresql reads from it, and they wouldn't know about each
other doing that.
