Bug Description

I'm using absolutely default Ubuntu 11.10 installation. I've installed Rygel with help of "Ubuntu Software Center" and I've managed to run it and connect my Sony Bravia TV to it. TV shows directory structure of my laptop.

The problem is that I see "
(rygel:16325): Rygel-CRITICAL **: Error from pipeline RygelHTTPGstResponse: gstavidemux.c(5204): gst_avi_demux_loop (): /GstPipeline:RygelHTTPGstResponse/GstBin:transcoder-source/GstDecodeBin2:decodebin2/GstAviDemux:avidemux6:
streaming stopped, reason not-negotiated
"
message in console when I try to watch absolutely any video. All these videos can be watched in Totem Movie Player (v 3.0.1)

I'm ready to provide any further information.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you might want to find a way to get a more recent version (0.12.x) of rygel and see if the problem still exists.
Newer versions are available from Debian if you can't find a more suitable source.

Hope this helps, have a nice day.

Andreas is right, we bet on the wrong horse too early. You either need gstreamer-0.10 master to fix this or rygel 0.12 which reverts those changes.

Please note that the current development version of Rygel will _not_ help since it uses the same code as 0.10.

I've installed Rygel 0.12.x from Debian sid repository. And everything works just fine. Thank you for the workaround. Perhaps, this Debian package should be integrated into Ubuntu 11.10? Because currently available version does not work at all.

We've failed to find someone who cares for doing the administrative work of getting stuff synced to Ubuntu properly. We currently rely on the automatic debian sync (so you'll have to wait for the next ubuntu release to get a newer rygel, which will then be one release behind the current stable release AGAIN becuase the debian sync was stopped early in the ubuntu dev cycle)..... If you're willing to help out here, that would be great! It's not much work you'll need to do because I'll provide you with packages via Debian, you'll just have to deal with Ubuntu administrative work to get stuff synced during freeze phases.
