Bug Description

software-center 5.0.3.1, Ubuntu 11.10
software-center 5.6.0-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu 13.04

I am running gdm and my session is openbox-gnome (not Unity) on Ubuntu 11.10
I installed GnomishDark theme from http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/GnomishDark?content=147290
because I strongly prefer dark background.
I used gnome-tweak-tool to set my window and GTK theme to GnomishDark
Now Ubuntu Software Center appears with light text and a light foreground.

See the attached screenshot.

It appears to take the text foreground color from the GTK theme, but ignored the theme background color.

Can a developer provide a hint on where the colors are set/loaded? I'm not familiar with the organization of the source, and there is a lot of python code in software-center. I would be happy to work on a patch if someone pointed me in the right direction. As is, this app is almost unusable with my desktop color theme. Thanks!

Ubuntu 13.04 Unity. This bug is still not fixed. There is other bug (maybe): scroll seems is not visible. I can see it only if I hold the left mouse button on it.
PS
Sorry for my bad English.

Also in Xubuntu 13.04, /usr/bin/software-center 5.6.0 ("Ubuntu Software Centre");
very obvious in the "history" tab.

settings manager -> appearance -> style: "Blackbird" will show this problem.

Is there a patch that I can apply to the UI to fix this? I've been able to fix similar problems in meld and other tools, since many are distributed as python or other scripting languages and are amenable to source patching. software-center is a python script, and there is a lot of python in /usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter but I don't where to find these color or theme settings.
