Bug Description
Ubuntu 11.10
GeForce 5500
Dell LCD monitor with native resolution of 1280x1024
After installing NVidia proprietary drivers and restarting the system I expect to be able to choose screen resolution 1280x1024. Instead I'm stuck at 640x480. If I go to "NVdia settings" application I see following error:
"unable to load x server display configuration page: failed to query noscanout for screen 0".
I tried to manually add screen resolutions to /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but it didn't help. I'm attaching xorg log which shows some problems ("Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-0" and "No valid modes for "1280x1024"; removing.")
