Bug Description
I'm running Feisty from the repositories. Note: I tried to file this bug against hplip, but it said "HP Linux Imaging and Printing does not use Malone as its bug tracker." so I'm leaving it blank. This is not really a bug of the program though, its a bug of the DEB package.
Trying to run System -> Preferences -> HPLIP Toolbox fails.
The launcher command is "/usr/bin/
Running that from the command line gives:
---
$ /usr/bin/hp-toolbox
error: PyQt not installed. GUI not available. Exiting.
error: PyQt/Qt initialization error. Please check install of PyQt/Qt and try again.
---
This is because python-qt3 is not installed by default in Feisty as it is (as per Synaptic) only Recommended (and oddly, also Suggested) by the hplip package. Please change the hplip DEB so that it "Depends" on python-qt3 as installing that makes it work:
---
~$ /usr/bin/hp-toolbox
