Bug Description

Using ubuntu 11.10 kernel 3.15 (also had the same problem with previous kernels)
A lot of the times I try to boot ubuntu,
after the grub Instead of the login screen I get this screen instead http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx130/sirvinniei/IMG_0092.jpg
(the line about plymouth says not connected to plymouth)
usually rebooting it (sometimes more than one time) solves the problem

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/912425/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

The console output also shows that the hostname job fails on boot, which is abnormal; this job simply calls the 'hostname' command, which is located on the root partition and is a required package. So your system seems to be in an inconsistent state. Please install the debsums tool with 'sudo apt-get install debsums' and post the output of 'debsums -s' from this system.

ok; this shows a lot of missing files but apparently nothing outside of /usr/share, so this doesn't explain the failures during early boot.

what does 'dpkg -l hostname' show?

Oh, interesting. Not the kind of problem I *expected* to find, but it certainly explains why the hostname job is failing.

Hostnames are not allowed to contain spaces. Could you please edit /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts to replace "ultimo sapientiae" with "ultimo-sapientiae", and see if that fixes your problems?

I don't know. It will fix *one* problem on your system, and it may fix
others. Please test and report back.
