[Precise] desktop installer crashes near the end

Running the installer from today's daily live CD, taking pretty much all defaults (I do use "encrypted home") it pops up an "installer crashed" window at what looks like near the end of the process. (Rereporting after running with an insecure password, so I can attach debug logs)
