buddy roster management

We need access control with the h-box software. At the minimum, only buddies in the roster list should be able to access the devices. I am not sure how this works in the current version, but there seems two ways:

i) Signal the user device via XMPP that he needs to authorize.
ii) Reuse the xerces library to implement a simple web page for pending buddy requests.

Or was it that this is actually a manual process to be done with an external XMPP client?

I don't know the details of the access control but I am sure that presence of only the buddies are processed in the h-box. So, if h-box-1 is not a buddy of h-box-2 then both of them would run independently without knowing each other presence and upnp-devices.
