synaptic loses 'other server' function (us) after initial updates

Bug Description
I just installed 11.10 amd_x64 beta 2 and lost the ability to choose 'other servers' in synaptic after installing updates. This function was working after initial installation. Main server and United States server are now the only ones available. I also noticed that in the ubuntu software center there aren't any preferences or options available.
This is a home built desktop machine: Asus 7p755d-e mobo, I-5 750 proc, 8gb gskill ram, wd 1 tb caviar black hdd, nvidia 9800 gt gpu,
seasonic 650w psu. Triple boot linux, win 7 pro 64, winxp pro 32.

Now using Ailurus-excellent work around for this problem. (missing servers) I also corrected missing menu functions with dconf-editor.
