The waveform overview can barely be seen

The waveform overview can barely be seen. The waveform is black on a very dark grey background. The waveform summary looks fine with a orange waveform on a black background. I tried all the other skins and the waveform overview can't be seen in any of them.

Just to be sure I know which widget you're talking about, do you mean the smaller waveform that gives an overview of the whole track, or the big waveform?

The big waveform is the one that I can't see.
I can see the smaller waveform just fine.

Michael -- do the spinning vinyl widgets draw correctly? Click the circle button to the right of the small waveform and that should display the spinning vinyl widget. Compare to screenshots of the Deere skin on http://mixxx.org to see what it is supposed to look like.

Also, providing screenshots for the waveform issue would be helpful.

I suspect the issue is specific to the RadeonX1900 graphic card in your 2006 1st gen MacPro. Have you already had similar issues in other programs? I`m asking because Apple even had a replacement program for the X1900 and one can read about OpenGL and overheating issues .

I haven't had any problems with any other programs.
I tried Mixx on my laptop and it worked fine.

Thanks again for the report -- we've rewritten our waveform support for the upcoming Mixxx 1.11.0. Could you please try out our alpha2 release to see if we have made any progress on this issue?

I tried Mixxx 1.11.0-alpha2 (build trunk r3087) and I can now see the both the smaller waveforms and the larger waveforms so it looks like you made good progress on this issue.
