Is it just mp3 files that you have issues with, or do you really have no sound?

On an unrelated note (at least to this bug report), I saw this in your dmesg:
[drm] MTRR allocation failed. Graphics performance may suffer.

You may need to add these two arguments to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line in /etc/default/grub:
enable_mtrr_cleanup mtrr_spare_reg_nr=1

Sorry for the late reply. If you're still around, could you try editing the file
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add the line

options snd-hda-intel model=auto

then reboot.
Can you report back and tell us if this worked for you? Thanks!

Once the reporter has confirmed that this resolves his problem, I will send the attached patch for inclusion upstream and in Ubuntu.

@Константин, thanks for chiming in. Could you supply alsa-info according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo - then I can confirm your hardware is the same and send the patch upstream. Thanks!

how do i apply this patch?

David Henningsson (diwic) wrote :

@manzur, if you update your 12.04 installation, and boot the latest 3.2.0-23 kernel, the patch has already been applied. If this does not resolve your problem, please file a new bug for your issue. Thanks!
