Bug Description

Binary package hint: wireless-tools

KnetworkManager won't work correctly when trying to connect to a hidden Access Point. In fact, enabling the SSID broadcast solves the problem. It seems that this problem is actually caused by wireless-tools version 28 that supports Wireless Extension up to version 20, but ubuntu kernel and wireless drivers are compiled with Wireless Extension v21, which will be completely supported only from the next wireless-tools - v29.
Either the new wireless-tools is needed or a switch back to wireless extension v20. However, wireless-tools v29 is still in beta.

(I tested with an atheros based wlan integrated on Sony Vaio VGN-FS315E and with Zyxel G-170S and U.S. Robotics USR805410)

Changed in wireless-tools:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

The bug still exists in Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) beta.

(Tested with: WPA1, PSK, Intel 2200BG (rev. 05), 802.11b/g on x86.)
