Cancelling a move can permanently delete objects

Bug Description
To reproduce:
1. Draw a line segment.
2. Select the line. (Click and release)
3. Start to move the line. (Click and drag)
4. Without letting go of the mouse, hit Escape.
The result is that the line segment disappears. It is not in the undo buffer. You cannot get it back.
This affects Gtk and lesstif, with or without rubberband mode, at least as far back as 20100929.
